When you say the site is under attack, what exactly do you mean? Why is this occurring frequently when this never was a problem before? And lastly, in the future if you plan on doing site maintenance, it would be extremely beneficial if this was shared with the forum in advance?

Oh, and in the past, I would report that when I would google the site it would take me to yahoo. It worked yesterday, however, last night when I attempted to connect to the site, it once again took me to yahoo home page. Then, I tried to log on through my iphone and no luck. At first, I was told this was a computer issue on my end. I don't believe so anymore. Something to look into. I happened to download google chrome and that's how I'm able to get on through my computer.

Hey!! Good luck fixing it...
Im certainly not technically minded (anything but) but I second what alana says about yahoo. I know when I search 'spiritual river forum' that if the link comes up with yahoo and searches other headlines within yahoo in quick succession, that the site will be down...
But I'm sure you know all that...

@SRDevTeam. Are you experiencing a DOS attack or equivalent and if so - as Alana has said - why have these only happened since the upgrade? I - personally - think that your thread title was ill advised because it makes people far more worried than they need to be. If you are experiencing an upsurge in bot traffic or similar which are not expressly targetting SR, then that isn't an "attack".

Can you update the situation and why this didn't occur in the past? Is the latest version of the software more vulnerable?

The site and forum were using extremely outdated versions of their CMSs. So old, that people don't create any scripts to take advantage of vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, they were also too old to add many of the features on the site/forum today.

Once we updated all the software, there have been some code errors that took down the site, brute force attempts to log into the server (causing a DOS), redirects setup that sent people from search engines to another site or created a link at the bottom of the page. We are proactively dealing with the situation and the number of attempts has dropped precipitously.

Could you elaborate more on this? I visited the page from yahoo/bing with no problem. Am I missing somethign?

Once we updated all the software, there have been some. . . redirects setup that sent people from search engines to another site.

I believe this is what Alana was describing. I observed it as well, searching from Google, having it display a search result that looked like the site, then clicking and being redirected to yahoo instead. Obviously not something that manifests itself when the site is working properly.

Good luck. It has been beyond annoying for readers and posters.

I assume you know but FYI it has often been the case that one can get to the main page and read articles but then not be able to get to the forum, thru links or a bookmark or cut and paste the URL.

PS re your request for suggested changes to threads, etc. NONE please until there are at least 2 solid weeks of working every day. I understand the need for the upgrade but it's too fragile right now.

This is to inform you that the mobile version of your site has been hijacked to redirect to a porn site (---.com or something) which tries to get you to install a "safeapp" program which is almost certainly Malware.

The mobile site has been hijacked by a porn site again.

Can you patch the vulnerability they are using, it seems to be happening much too often. If the latest version of Vbulletin is this poor, then surely you should go back to the old or change bulletin board software entirely.

Or is it the server security?
